Section B - Pony

Standard of Excellence

The miniature pony is a well balanced animal not exceeding 8.2 1/4 hands in height at the highest point of the wither, possessing good temperament and free from hereditary unsoundness.

Mares should show feminity.

Stallions should show masculinity and boldness, without aggression.

A)   It should have typical appearance in miniature.

B)   It should be stocky and compact, allowing some length in the back, without exaggeration.

C)   While  the body should have well sprung ribs and generous girth with a well rounded rump, the whole pony should be well balance and well proportioned to height.

TAIL         Well set

LEGS        Set squarely, of good straight bone of some substance. Strong forearm, short cannons and strong, sloping pasterns, ending in strong open hooves.

ACTION  Smooth, active, free flowing

HEAD      Well proportioned to body, small concave below eyes which are set well apart. Neat muzzle.

TEETH     Must meet evenly, a maximum 3mm variation in over or under-bite.

NECK      Lightly crested on mares and moderately crested on stallions. Proportinate neck to body. Some length of rein preferred.

All colours are acceptable

Preferred at least 7 days elapsed from any clipping. No prejudice against full or natural or clipped coats otherwise.

In judging where all other points are equal, the smallest shall be given preference.
