Standards of Excellence
The miniature horse is a small well balanced animal not exceeding 8.2 hands in height measured at the last hair of the mane possessing good temperament and being free from hereditary unsoundness.
It must not show signs of poor condition or mal-nourishment.
Mares should show feminity.
Stallions should show masculinity and boldness, without aggression.
A) It should have typical horse appearance in miniature
B) It should have an upright carriage without exaggerated length of body
C) It should have greater length of leg in relation to depth of girth.
D) It should represent a fine appearance, showing grace and balance.
TAIL Well Set
LEGS Squarely set, without heavy bone, but straight, with strong sloping pasterns, ending in strong, open hooves.
ACTION Straight, smooth and free flowing
HEAD Straight to concave, not overlong having an alert expression with round expressive eyes, set well apart. Small, neat muzzle.
TEETH Must meet evenly, a maximum 3mm variation in over or under-bite.
NECK Good length of rein, flexible and high set, without heaviness.
All colours are acceptable.
Preferred shown in clipped or fine coat, through no prejudice against the other, as climatic variations occur.
In judging, where all other points are equal, the smallest is given preference.
